Owner and Therapist

John was born in North Carolina and has lived in Pennsylvania, Arizona, North Carolina, Washington State, and Utah. He attended Arizona State for his undergraduate degree and completed his doctorate in PT at Duke University.

​

He has spent extensive time in continuing education since graduation and has earned a board certification, 90 hours of dry-needling training, and a Manual Therapy Fellowship. He is passionate about improving the quality of his patients' lives and being an asset to the healthcare community.

 

He is married to Bethany, and they have three children: Bunny, Gareth, and Hazel. In his free time, John enjoys running, hiking, and traveling.

Gloria Smith Goar

Office Coordinator

Gloria has lived in Killen all her life. She and her husband Chris have been married for 26 years.

They have two daughters, Terah (married to Michael) and Bre, and two grandsons. She has been with Spine & Sport since the beginning.  Gloria enjoys spending time with her family and looks forward to meeting you.

Brittany Bennefield

Patient Support Tech

Brittany is a native of Arab, AL, a graduate of UNA, and an active realtor.

She has over five years in the PT world and has a passion for helping others in their health and fitness journeys. Her position as a Patient Support Tech means she works alongside John to ensure each patient is moving correctly to help them achieve their goals.

When she’s not at the clinic or selling houses, you can find her doing CrossFit, traveling, or trying a new restaurant.

Skylar Elkins

Skylar started as an intern and stayed after she graduated from the University of North Alabama. She enjoys traveling, music, and remodeling houses.
